Story Board

We thought about our ideas a bit more and start on the beginning of the story board.

In the beginning of the film, we start filming in a bedroom. It starts with a shot of a wall filled with pictures of different people, it will then zoom in onto one of the pictures. The stalker will then take down this picture and put it in his pocket, it will then film him walking out the room.

The next part will be a shot of him down a street and the girl that he is stalking. He will stop and stand still looking at this picture there will be a shot coming from the back of his head looking over his shoulder focusing on the picture of the girl that he has in his hand. Then he will start walking down the street and the girl that he is stalking will be walking in front of him a bit further down the road.

The scene will then carry on being filmed in the college, it will be based on the idea that the stalker will follow this girl around the college, watching her every move, after the scene at the college, it will move onto her being stalked outside school and it finally end in the park where she gets murdered by the stalker.

First sheet

We also finished our logo, and started making the sound to go with it.

Mise-en-Scene

The first part we though about we wanted to have in a bed room, and then maybe use the school because the theme is stalking, so this may be good to do in a school environment.

The costumes that will be used are casual wear for the character that is being stalked and anyone else who is in the scene, and the stalker will be wearing a hoodie/ leather jacket as this will make him seem more scary.

The props that will be used are pictures of different people, a camera and a phone.

We will be filming this in a number of places, the beginning will filmed in a bedroom, then it will be filmed in the street, it will then be filmed in the college, it will end by being filmed in a park

Main Ideas

The ideas for our thriller where thinking about may be a stalking sort of thriller where a man chooses to stalk this one young girl, and follows her around school and knows her time table and also follows her home after school, and the girl has no idea what is actually going on, then she starts to get a bit suspicious about someone following her.

We was thinking at the start of the clip, there could be a blank walk and then suddenly lots of photos appear on the walk (fast) and flicks between each clip (e.g. blank wall; photos; blank wall; photos. etc) then then it zooms straight into the photo of one young girl and the stalker takes it off the wall and places it in his pocket, then walks off.

Political Thriller (Sub Genre)

Political thriller: In which the hero/heroine must ensure the stability of the government that employs him. The success of Seven Days in May (1962) by Fletcher Knebel, The Day of the Jackal (1971) by Frederick Forsyth, and The Manchurian Candidate(1959) by Richard Condon established this subgenre. A more recent example is the 1980 film Agency.

(Example)

Disaster thriller (Sub Genre)

Disaster thriller -
In which the main conflict is due to some sort of natural or artificial disaster, such as floods, earthquakes, hurricanes, volcanoes, etc., or nuclear disasters as an artificial disaster. Examples include Stormy Weather by Carl Hiaasen,Tremor by Winston Graham, and the 1974 film Earthquake.

Crime Thriller (Sub Genre)

Crime Thriller -
This particular genre is a hybrid type of both crime films and thrillers that offers a suspenseful account of a successful or failed crime or crimes. These films often focus on the criminal(s) rather than a policeman. Crime thrillers usually emphasize action over psychological aspects. Central topics of these films include murders, robberies, chases, shootouts, and double-crosses are central ingredients. Some examples include The Killing, Seven, Reservoir Dogs, Inside Man, and The Asphalt Jungle.

Seven Opening Sequence (example)

The Fast and Furious opening scene, this scene is a really good, and action filled opening and really gets you watching it, and it's really good how they used roof tops. This makes the audience get into the movie fast, and also wants people to keep watching.

Action Thriller (Sub Genres)

Action Thriller -
In which the work often features a race against the clock, contains lots of violence, and an obvious antagonist. These films usually contain large amounts of guns, explosions, and large elaborate set pieces for the action to take place. These films often have elements of mystery films and crime films but these elements take a backseat to action. Notable examples are the James Bond films, The Transporter, and the Jason Bourne novels and films.

Student thriller example - The Yearbook

We chose the Yearbook as our Student Thriller example because we thought it was very realistic and also believable, as some of the student thrillers didn't look realistic or professional.

This has good props and ideas in it, the use of blood is very effective (they have used something as well as blood to make it look like they are grating the skin), and also the scribbling in the yearbook, almost to say each one the people in the book that gets scribbled out has been murdered, this is what we liked about it the most, the anger and sound of the pen scribbling.

At the start of this clip there is a ring around a certain person, which is obliviously saying he's the next to be murdered. The eye after this is really effective also as the flicking, then the titles are flickering and really fit in with the whole theme, then the circling of the names really fast (planning may be).

The sounds are really fit in to the clip as well and in the background sometimes there's sounds of a little girl/boy laughing which is adding to it, and the camerawork is very nice, they have got some of the main ideas at the right angles and things. The editing is maybe a bit to fast but this is to add to the effect of everything happening so fast.

We have chosen this video because its gets the story across to the audience very well, the way that the pictures in the year book are crossed out gives it the affect of murder.

Also we liked the way that the group used mise-en-scene, this gave off secretive affect. This is because alot of the clips in the video are filmed in the dark, or low light. Also the clip had a lot of flicky affect, which sends off that its a thriller.

Face Off

Face Off Poster -

Camerawork

Editing

Sound
The music is quite calm and romantic as we are watching a little boy and his father. But considering about what is actually going to happen, you just wouldn't expect what happens to happen.

Mise-en-scene
the setting is first of all at a fair, then we see the office of the father, and also we see different places that the killer goes to, i think this is showing the things he is planning to do. All the places that they go to seem hectic and also organised.

The costumes tell us a lot about each character -
- The killer is dressed in clothes that hide him e.g. long black coats, sunglasses etc. Also we see that he has loads of different disguises, he starts off with a tash and he always seems to have different clothes. He also carries around a lot of weapons E.g. guns, bombs..etc.
- The father of the son wears black also because he is part of an anti terrorist team. He carries around weapons to.

Titles
The titles are very bold (black and white) they sometimes fade in a and out, and also some of the titles (maybe the main ones) stay up for longer and also the first name goes big, then gets smaller and the last name then comes bigger so you can read both parts of the name properlly.
